When it comes to making candles one of the most important aspects is going to be the scents. Candle making scents are really what makes the candle special and unique and what is the point of a candle that has no sweet smell to accompany it. The first thing that you need to understand is that almost all unique candle making scents are actually comprised of three different notes: a high note, middle note, and a base note. The high note is a light scent and is the first scent you smell as the candle burns and it usually dissipates quickly. After the high note the middle note creeps in and it is much heavier than the high note, it also lingers in the air for a longer period of time. As the middle note fades off the base note, which is the strongest note, fills the room and lingers for a long time after the flame has been blown out.

Here is what you are going to need when you are making your own candle making scents: glass jars (baby food jars work great), your scented oils, and q-tips. Now look through your scented oils, which ones do you think would smell nice together? Take q q-tip and put one drop of a particular oil on it and put it in the glass jar. Now take another q-tip and put a drop of a different scented oil on it. Continue doing this until you have all the oils that you want to mix on their own q-tip. Now put the q-tips in to the glass jar and close the lid. Leave it alone for about five minutes. When this time has passed open the lid and smell the fragrance, how does it smell? Does it smell OK? Is one fragrance too overpowering? Continue doing this until you fins a scent you like. This is how easy making candle making scents is!
