When you own the standard motorcycle helmet which inside lining cannot be detached, you can follow the helpful tips shown below to clean your protective gear.
First, you have to gather all the materials needed for cleaning to help save energy, time, and effort. You will need three clean cotton wash cloths, clean water, and mild and unscented shampoo or bath soap.
Take a dry wash cloth and wipe off the dust seen on the outside of the helmet. Prepare for cleaning by detaching all detachable parts such as the visor, cheek pads, and breathe guard from the actual helmet.
Wet your motorcycle helmet by soaking it with clean and lukewarm water to completely get rid of dust and some mild dirt. Take another clean cotton wash cloth and rinse it with clean water so it becomes damp. Squeeze off excess water. Take the mild and unscented shampoo or bath soap and apply adequate amount to the damp wash cloth. Rub the cloth together to create a rich lather.
Wipe your motorcycle helmet with the lathered wash cloth. Do this by gently wiping it in a circular motion without missing any parts. Rinse off the soap suds using a damp wash cloth. Make sure that no soap residue remains.
To clean the inner lining, take the soapy wash cloth again and use it as well for the lining. Be more gentle when cleaning the inside part. Too hard or too harsh rubbing and wiping may damage it. After cleaning, rinse the inner lining with clean water or use a wash cloth to wipe off the soap suds.
Take the last clean cotton wash cloth and use it to dry the inner lining. Remove excess moisture by daubing or patting the lining with your dry wash cloth. After getting rid of excess moisture, leave the helmet on a safe and dry surface to let dry.
