A Home Based Business Selling Candles?

Did you know that candles are a BIG business?  According to the National Candle Association, 7 out of 10 homes burn candles. In fact, approximately $2 billion annually, excluding sales of candle accessories, is generated in the U.S. alone, in retail sales of candles.

Candles are typically sold in three types of retail outlets: specialty or gift shops; department and home décor stores; and by mass merchandisers (discount stores, drug store chains, grocery stores, etc.)  However, a new breed of candle marketers are on the scene which allow you to earn a part of those sales figures through Direct Sales companies.

Direct selling is the sale of a consumer product or service, person-to-person, away from a fixed retail location, marketed through independent sales representatives who are sometimes also referred to as consultants, distributors or other titles. You may also hear some refer to Direct Sales as Network Marketing. Anyone can do Direct Sales, no matter their personal style, approach, or background... the opportunity exist for everyone. Direct Sales is also one of the fastest ways of reaching your financial goals while providing a high level of customer service.

The Direct Sales Industry has a strong history and has proven its solid economic performance. Just ask Donald Trump or Warren Buffet! Instead of these companies spending thousands of dollars to market their prestigious candles through the traditional marketing medias, they have chosen to share those thousands of dollars with you, the consumer, through a compensation plan which pays you directly for marketing their products.

Using the Direct Sales model, these candle companies are perfectly positioned. They have a product with a high demand and with the proper use of the Internet and the desire of so many thousands of individuals who are looking to work from home, they have the perfect formula.

What to Look For

The best candle products are those that are made with all natural ingredients, from the waxes to the wicks. Look for candles that use such ingredients such as, soy, bee, maple, and palm waxes which allow the candles to diffuse delicate fragrant oils without interpretation and smoke. You also want to look for those companies that use all natural cotton wicks, instead of the lead based wicks.

As an added bonus, look for a company that is about more than just the money. As there are many benefits of candles and some Direct Sales companies are using some of their profits to benefit various charities. This is a win/win/win for everyone: You, the consumer, the charities involved; and the Companies.

You may have heard of the saying, "Become a product of the product" which means that to really be successful in your Direct Sales ventures, you should look for a company that has a product that you believe in, a product that you also use, and a product that you know would be beneficial to many people in more ways than just one.

Need ideas for an open house for my candle business?

I'm planning on hosting an Open House for my neighborhood/close by family & friends to attend to premiere my new distributorship with a candle company ...... I'm looking for ideas for the best way to go about this - has anyone done one of these before or could give me some ideas? Thanks!

Whenever my friend's mom opens one of her jewelry or art shows/galleries she has a cheese and wine tasting party. People can browse your items and drink fine wine, I think that would be a good idea. Good Luck!
